You went to Grimsey island!! We were there a couple years ago. Wanted to walk across the Arctic circle before it moves off the island 🙃

From one MN girl to another, glad you had an amazing adventure. Iceland is magical.

I was there those days, one of the four of us at Scrabble and also on the snowmobiles up the glacier. I, too, believe Iceland is a place of magic. Lately I've come to realize that part of the reverence of any place is the shared joy and appreciation with one's fellow travelers, those who will share the reverence (or irreverence in our moments) and the laughter, who will hold the extra camera equipment, or wait a few minutes extra to get the light just right. You are the perfect traveling companion, Annie, a brilliant photographer, and even better, a saucy and inventive friend. My memories of Iceland are tied to you and the others who played together on cold summer nights and who rode up the glacier on the snowmobile. Thanks for the memories. Kathy

OMG Annie • This MN-girl is headed there in 10 days with my young adult daughters. Would love to echo your trip. If you have specific must-see suggestions please DM me. Thanks for making us more excited to explore 🇮🇸! BTW I recommend the book Secrets of the Sprakkar by Eliza Reid

I love it that you refer to yourself as a Minnesota girl 😊

Wow! You are much more intrepid than I am. This does sound wonderful however. I love the phrase, “Living off the leash”.

That was beautiful. A trip to a magical, free-spirited place that so few of us know about. Once the Icelandic airport was a stop for American kids flying cheap to Europe. If they'd only known. Now, I'm going. (Note: I presume the Viking wasn't playing or winning at Scrabble, but perhaps the writer?)
